From Whiskey to Coffee...SMALL BATCH tradition is born againIn 1837, William Gooderham built what would once become the largest distillery in the British Empire The Gooderham & Worts Distillery in Toronto. The Gooderham fortune dwindled during the prohibition of the first world war, but not before the fame and tradition of the SMALL BATCH craft beverage was built. As Gooderham's Coffee Co.'s chief roaster, I maintain the small batch tradition that my great (x4) grandfather pioneered 150 years ago. I custom roast high quality coffee beans one pound at a time, with the same type of craftsmanship and attention to detail that my ancestors exhibited at the Gooderham and Worts Distillery. While Gooderham's Coffee Co. likely won't build the same fortune from roasting coffee beans as William Gooderham built from crafting whiskey in the 1850's, we do share the same taste and respect for fine ingredients and full flavours. I roast high quality, single origin arabica beans to order, and stamp each bag with the roast date so you know it's fresh. The end result? Coffee that is sweet, not bitter, packed with aroma and richness, the way it was meant to be. I'm sure William would be Proud! ![]() |
